Between my shadow and my soul

Curiouser and Curiouser*

Abu Hurairah,
may Allah be pleased with him, reported:

I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: The son of Adam abuses Dahr (Time), whereas I am Dahr since in My hand are the day and the night.

Hadith number in Sahih Muslim [Arabic only]: 4165

I sometimes want to freeze Time in little atoms that I can taste at the tip of my tongue.
Seeing my cousin, wheel his wheelchair, learning to stand, when two of his children are out of prams and running around is poignant.
Yet the first time he learnt to walk, it was not with this vociferous will.
He did not call out to other Gullian Barre patients in the rehab section, and say, look at me, you can do this too, when he first learnt how to walk.
Now he offers quadriplegics a way to creat sustainable income for themselves while in hospital, some thing he never thought he would do when he was 100% healthy behind his shop counter.
The stuff of movies. When he had never thought much of hospitals.
The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Imagine we were born full of wonder, yet with a flailing physiology, and died with a healthy body but an aged and demented mind. We would have all the enthusiasm and none of the strength at the beginning and vice versa.
Yet He creates us from weakness to strength:

Allah is He Who created you in (a state of) weakness, then gave you strength after weakness, then after strength gave (you) weakness and grey hair. He creates what He wills. And it is He Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful (i.e. Able to do all things).

Quran: Chapter 30 Vs 54

And despite these barriers of Time and Age and Norms and all that jazz.
Humans sometimes meet in between.
Compromise is not a filthy word at all.
Yet for every precious person who we synchronise with, there are the many many passing ships who float on oblivious of our presence, too absorbed in their stage. And that's Ok too.

You shall surely travel from stage to stage.
(84:19)

I wonder if the the delirious-on-glue guys I met earlier this evening and I shall ever synchronise. For us there is always hope.

it is unbelievable that many opt not to believe.
they will fall prey to irrelevance and forget that the bigger picture has so much to look at and understand!
if there is ny hope i dont have, that is the way mankind is headed!
