Nooj

Between my shadow and my soul

There is a Time...

A shadow trails the Wind.
Ascending on Her momentum,
Ecstatic in Her rush,
it bides until She returns.

Fearing the genesis of
its own forceful motion, it
Hides in disappointments and
Forgets its own powerful potential

Khadija September 11, 2008 at 11:23 AM

Made me feel peaceful... :)

killa, how on earth is poetry ghei? I pray thee do tell.

KiLLa September 11, 2008 at 11:43 AM

LoL

Well ms/mrs Khadija let me iterate..
Firstly it is my opinion.. However i did write some poetry of my own..(will send em to u if interested)..

Depends what kinda poetry.. I hate all em RUMI stuff. It irritates the living daylights outta me.. Send me Rumi and ill send u a not so very pleasant reply..

BAck to the ghei part.. I dont see a normal straight guy writing words of emotion, torment, bliss and making them rhyme.. Theyd rather watch sport.. If a guy writes poetry its the equivelant of him not liking sport.. ie .. he be ghei..

Remember there is a differnece between poetry and humourous verses.. Like em likericks and stuff..

THIS IS AN OPINION.. Dont quote me

(sorry nooj)

LoL kay thanks for prising open the flood :)

Killa hmmm- Gheiness is a fascinating trait. Because in the 21st century when women can afford their own material happiness in the form of plane tickets, Truworths and Nine West, we actually seek touchy-feely displays of poetry, culinary wooing and arty trinkets. Just something to consider...

Point noted..Heres my poem..

The day started good, the day started calm..
All until i heard my mother's charm..
She bribed me with coffee,
She even tried to make amends..
All this so i could take her to LENZ..

I had no choice,
I had to adhere..
After all, she was my mummy o dear..
We reached the shop and found a space in the lot..
O how i wished i smoked some pot..

The shop read Pay n Save..
Someone pls do dig my grave..
For those of you who do not know..
This shop is a man's worst ammo..

They sell linen, they even sell chiffon..
They even have lace to decorate a croissant..
They have millions of button and tons of fabric..
Looking for something may make u an antique..

Hours go by, ppl come and go..
All i see is a scissor cutting velcro..
People stare at me like im a cracker in harlem..
Little to they know, im dying of boredom..

My mother is contemplating, mauve or purple..
And im looking at the ceiling waiting for the anvil..
Cos if it does drop down and leaves me for dead..
Ill be a hero for enduring this with bloodshed..

Nicolidis and his 300 died for Sparta..
Would TaKilla endure the pain for his father..
Cos if he were not on leave and still at work..
His dad would be the one to do the lacework..

After 4 hours of slavery and rave and banter..
I came home to a Big Mac with Fanta..
I may have survived the Battle, while fighting the War..
But its not over as the ORIENTAL PLAZA awaits me tomoro..

The Fucken End....(borat voice) NOT..

don't be a Lenz-Hater!

Killa me and you, against Rumi awesome

Your Poem is f*****king BRILLIANT

KiLLa September 11, 2008 at 4:25 PM

Didnt say i hate lenz..
ta for the poem compliment but it aint helping my cause in trying to persueade Nooj and Khatija that poetry is ghei..

Khadija September 11, 2008 at 4:32 PM

killa, you're right you've just assisted the cause in disproving the gheiness of poetry. A fine poem, dude. I'd love to read your poetry, do send it over. Ya see a guy can write poetry, like sports and be very unghei.

Besides there a few mean male poets among us here in blogoland and I think they'll take exception to the ghei opinion. ;p

KiLLa September 11, 2008 at 4:37 PM

LoL.. The type of poetry in question is the type Nooj posted.. That is feministic and ghei.. My poem was a rhyming story and not a poem.. I have more of those in lieu of Dr Seuss but some of the words might not be ramadaan worthy..

I respect the 'mean male' loggers.. Diff strokes for diff folks i suppose..

And since when did Nooj's comments section become Karbala - A battlefield :D

Sorry once again, but neutral grounds are safer

Khadija September 11, 2008 at 4:55 PM

hehe the swords are sheathed and the white flag raised...

Nooj September 12, 2008 at 10:29 AM

aw man did i miss the action :P

agree with assia and kay- lovely poem. venting thoughts into words is poetry so you're kinda cornered :P

killa- the word sorry isn't tolerated in karbala lol. if you were sorry you wouldn't have said it, but i'm not offended so it's cool :)
i still maintain gheiness is based on personal preferences. symbolizing emotions may be ghei to killa but i love it. i feel floral prints make me look ghei unless they're funked up by YDE or Ginger Mary. Hmmm

KiLLa September 12, 2008 at 10:34 AM

Well im Gobsmacked then :P

Killa`
wot an opinion. Ofcorse folded within it is the implication that i am gay based on my poetry. Define your gay, or do u take the universal secularised meaning. R u an individual or blind follower. For those out ther who follow ther hearts and say screw the world, are as ungay as u get. U no wots really gay... to changes with the times, to conform, to not develop a well understood opinion of own, to take to what the world commands of us. To endorse a mindset so narrow light cant pass thru it. I’d ratha live gay than disregard my true self. How in this amazingly diverse world can it be decided that because a human who happens to be male and who respects himself and embraces the diversity in his human emotion given by god, must be gay.

Crimson Shimmer September 14, 2008 at 3:54 PM

Our prophet was a very caring and sensitive man. Full of emotion who gladly embraced it. He did not care for anyones thoughts on it. Yet he was manly and stood his ground firmly when he had to. He stood strong by his beliefs and neva contradicted them. The diff is he was wise and new when to apply what. He wud smell flowers and adore the sunrise as he woke, and at the same time declare and fite for his beliefs by nightfall if he had to. This is not the quality of just a real man but of a real human being. The standard for both man and woman which by god sheds little light on gender expectation.
The prophet loved to hear poetry being recited, his words are like poetry to our hearts.
it thus becomes a sunnah for you to love poetry, in your words: be gay.
This is the month of ramadaan, embrace your gayness.
All of u.
